In silico modeling for personalized stenting in aortic coarctation

Stent intervention is a recommended therapy to reduce the pressure gradient and restore blood flow for patients with coarctation of aorta (CoA). In this work, we developed framework personalized stent in CoA using silico modeling, combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) image-based prediction geometry after intervention. Firstly, aorta, whose was reconstructed from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data, numerically modeled lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Both large eddy simulation (LES) direct numerical (DNS) were considered adequately resolve turbulent hemodynamics, boundary conditions extracted phase-contrast MRI. By comparing results CFD 4D-Flow MRI 3D-printed phantoms, concluded that LBM based LES capable obtaining accurate aortic acceptable cost. implantation patient then performed by predicting deformed flow. evaluating drop maximum wall shear stress, an optimal can be selected.
